Of course there is a nationwide delivery and collection from Kumeu if you’re in Auckland 🐣

Every year I donate cookies to Pink Ribbon lunch organised by amazing people in Whitianga and this year they had 230 attendees!! Which means 230 cookies baked, sealed, packed and shipped!
It took me around 16 hours to turn that around, so it will take you way less than that to book your appointment and check those precious boobies!!!!! 🎀

We are all this person who can manage unmanageable bottomless workload!

Five years ago I asked my friends to follow my new account where I would share my cookie progress as an outlet while being in lockdown. I’ve lost my corporate job after never returning back from maternity leave, I felt lost and tried to navigate this weird chapter of our lives. My husband laughs that I can’t have a hobby, well I tried to make this a hobby and a creative outlet, and little did I know that 5 years on it will turn into a full time job and a proper business. So yes, I suppose I can’t have a hobby😂
But I can truly say that I have the most amazing and rewarding job in the world! Starting with maybe 40 followers (mostly friends and people who I forced into following my page hah) this grew over x100 times and I’m never knew I would have a community of amazing people who follow my journey, laugh at my stupid jokes with me and share every day! Thank you to every single one of you!!! ♥️

I decided to make it a bit different this year and will make the orders on a weekly basis with first in first serve manner, so you can enjoy Easter cookies before the actual holiday!

Making cookies is a very strong therapy I must admit.

It was 2020 when I started making cookies and I remember making this set in my kitchen at 4am with tears flowing from my eyes because in two hours my little kids will wake up to a new day and iI still haven’t even gone to bed. I had so much pity for myself but but yet I was so proud of how the set was coming up.
Fast forward four and a half years later - same me with older kids and not working till 4am. It takes practice - a lot and a lot of practice. I’m still learning something new every single day, but I also learn so many tricks from so much practice. Oh yes, and I’m also kinder to myself, because we all should be kind to ourselves!

Okay, this pretty sums me up, especially the current haircut style

On 26th November 2024 I’ve sent the cookies with an overnight courier to a client that’s located 30km from my house. Those cookies never reached them. I got an email at 7pm the night before the event asking if the cookies were still coming. That’s the ultimate nightmare for every baker. I worked till 1am that night to make a replacement order and my volunteer employee (aka husband) drove them the next day in time for their event.
Three months later on the dot my lovely local courier lady knocked on my door with a surprise package. So let’s see how my three months old cookies taste like!

Now that took me a while to edit ha! But I finally did that (and feeling so productive!)
So, the news in bakers world got shaken by FDA phasing out and banning red 3 food dye in the US by 2027 because it shows risk for people’s health.
Here in NZ we don’t follow FDA as we have our own NZ and AU Food Safety Act, however, if it’s clearly unsafe to use in the US, it’s the matter of time before bureaucratic wheels start turning here.
So, here is what I’ve done in my kitchen since January when the news broke (I’m telling you it took a while to edit!) - I’ve removed all the Red 3 or E127 food dye from my baking and decorating. If you have any food dyes, check them out! Most were the variations of pink and violet, but also brown (which is my personal heartbreak because I really like this warm choc shade of brown). So, while companies come up with new formulas and safer range, I will be sticking to mixing the colours and playing a bit longer in the kitchen to achieve the same result as before!
In saying that, when you order from us, bakers, please give us some wiggle room for errors - it’s hard to make food that looks exactly the same as the cartoon or match the invite AND is safe to consume. And we’re trying our hardest to make this work!! 😘😘😘
